Title: Lord Tiger (Stories of animal sign series)
Author: Xue Lin
Reviewer: Christina Barker
On the front cover, Lord Tiger is seen to be sitting down and licking a young girl’s face. She looks very happy and so does he.
I was really looking forward to reviewing this book because I was born in the year of the tiger so I wanted to know the story of what happened with Lord Tiger.
Like the other stories in the animal sign series this story tells a tale of a Tiger who learns his lesson and goes from a bad Tiger to a good one. I like how the Tiger makes friends with the six year old girl and he ends up looking after her.
I can see some similarities in myself and the Tiger. I also like to take care of people and always be kind. It is a good message to send to children.

The main theme of this story is how Tiger, who was once feared, in the end became worshipped for his efforts to turn his life around and care for people instead of hurting them. This is a great message to send to children, as some children might feel alone if they have behavioural issues, but if they can read about someone facing the same difficulty as them, it could help them overcome it.
There is one page towards the middle of the book that I particularly love, where Tiger becomes obsessed with showing his power after finishing fourth in the race. The pages feature several illustrations of Tiger jumping and running, but only one of the illustrations have been painted, the others are all in pencil which is think is so effective and unique.
