 Pitt Rivers Event

On Saturday 08 June 2019 between 13:00 and 16:00 Pitt Rivers Museum and Dragon Discoveries (Sister Community Interest Company of Snowflake Books Ltd) will be bringing a festival of Taiwanese Celebrations to Oxford City Centre.

Snowflake Books have been working with a multitude of organisations throughout Oxfordshire and beyond for over 3 years bringing the fun side of Eastern Arts and Culture to our neighbourhoods for all the family to enjoy.  They recently launched a community interest company, Dragon Discoveries to enable them to further their focus on delivering educational events to local authorities with a vision to encourage collaboration between Eastern and Westerners.

Having worked with Oxfordshire Schools, London Libraries and many famous museums of Oxford including The Ashmolean Museum and The Story Museum, the Dragon Discoveries and Pitt Rivers partnership teams are proud to be working on their very first event together.

Dragon Discoveries also work with schools and families over in Taiwan, where they have a team of teachers and artists running workshops and school clubs.  These organisations are keen to encourage children to engage with one another across the seas; to build confidence, bridge gaps and influence future travel and tourism.  Dragon Discoveries have formed a series of video sharing opportunities and ‘Live Video’ sessions to enable the children to talk to each other directly. “This is super exciting for the children, especially those over in Taiwan, they are so interested in the UK and what interests and hobbies children here in the UK have” states Business Development Manager, Steph. She continues “The Children can be very shy at first but our fantastic team help them to overcome this and encourage them to interact.”

Owner of Snowflake Books and Dragon Discoveries, Suyen Hu spends much of her time travelling between countries, preparing for events and assisting her international team to ensure quality delivery. “We are running a series of events throughout the summer at the Westgate Shopping Centre too and have some exciting activities taking place with our very own artists and live video!”

Come along on Saturday afternoon to one of Oxfords National Treasures, The Pitt Rivers Museum, for a fun-filled afternoon of activity for the family. We will be having traditional Taiwanese tea for the adults whilst the younger children enjoy story time in the old library and an energetic trail will be taking place in the main museum with some arts and crafts taking place on the balcony.

Entry is FREE OF CHARGE.
